We offer many treatment options for Oak trees and Live Oaks.

All these trees may be affected by a disease falling under one of three types: Infectious or Non-infectious.

  • Infectious – Trees that are affected by bacteria or fungal disease will experience a decline in their health.
  • Non-Infectious: This is a term that refers to nutritional deficiencies.
  • Pest tree fall – Insect-related borer

It is important to be able to spot tree diseases early. Here are a few possible tree diseases that could affect Trophy Club trees.

  • Bacterial Leaf Scorch
  • Tree Leaf Spot
  • Fire Blight
  • Post-Oak Decline

RED OAK – This tree is very similar in appearance to Live Oak trees so it can be more difficult to spot problems. These are indicators that the tree may be in serious trouble. The leaves don’t seem to be as beautiful in spring. They will turn brown or pale and then wither. The problem will usually only affect one side of the tree but it could soon affect the whole tree. Red Oaks that are not blooming as expected can be a sign that there is a serious problem. It is best to call an Arborist right away to diagnose it. Oak wilt can lead to the tree dying within three to 4 weeks.

Oak wilt occurs when the bark of an oak develops fungal spores. Red Oaks can conceal fungal spores beneath their bark. You will need to inspect these spores often. Fungal spores often have a fruity smell.

CONTAMINATION of Oak Wilt and INFECTION

Oak Wilt can be spread by the roots of Live Oaks. Oakwoods can be described as a group of live oaks growing together. Their root system often intertangles with one another. It is only a matter if other trees getting infected. It is vital to eliminate infected trees immediately. If the trees are not removed quickly, the entire plantation may be affected. You must immediately treat any tree that is turning brown or not responding to the seasons correctly.

CONTAMINATION OAK WILT RED OAK TREES

This table shows the difference between Red Oaks, Live Oaks trees.

Red Oaks – The soil contamination causes the transmit oak’s death. A host tree is usually required in order to spread the disease. The fungal spores of red oak can produce a fruity scent that attracts many insects. One example is the sap-feeding Nitidulid Beetles.

The fungal infection can spread from one tree to another if it is infected. To prevent the beetles from infecting other trees, it is best to prune trees during winter.

Oak Wilt can also spread through the environment. This can be accomplished by cutting down contaminated wood, and then placing it where there is other red oak. Before you start cutting wood, be sure to inspect it carefully before moving it to the destination.

Root Rot is one of the Texas Tree Diseases

Water molds, fungi, and other organisms are causing the root trunk tissue to become brittle. This happens when something infected the tree’s core tissue.

Bacterial Leaf Scorch is Another Texas Tree Disease

The heat stress and summertime can cause the bacteria Xylellafastidiosa (bacterial leave scorch). This bacteria is found within the tree’s water xylem. It is often transmitted by insects that eat the Xylem. Trees that are stressed experience dieback, which eventually leads to the tree’s inability to function properly and ultimately death. Oak Wilt can often be mistaken for leaf scorch.
